Green Building Practices

The Ranch features an array of buildings, all of which have undergone significant renovation in recent years to achieve a uniform design and to provide modern conveniences. The buildings have been redone in a restrained Hill Country style, featuring local stone and a board-and-batten construction method. During the design process, the architect, Herron Design Associates, utilized passive cooling techniques, added super-insulation, and introduced a rainwater collection system to maximize comfort and to minimize operational costs, resulting in "green" buildings that achieve LEED design standards.

The Lodge

The main lodge features 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. The spacious living space includes a chef's kitchen, a large fireplace, a dining room table that seats up to 12 people, and a full bar. An attached screened porch comes with a large fireplace, a tournament pool table, and outdoor dining and lounge seating that is comfortable year-round. An adjacent patio with a large fireplace and the "bridge to nowhere" projecting over the limestone cliff is the perfect spot for looking out over the water and relaxing at the end of a long day.

Rainwater Collection

Water is a precious resource in Central Texas as recent droughts have shown. CRR collects rainwater from the roofs of many of the ranch buildings, and stores it on-sight where it is then used for drinking water.
