The Ranch features an array of buildings, all of which have undergone significant renovation in recent years to achieve a uniform design and to provide modern conveniences. The buildings have been redone in a restrained Hill Country style, featuring local stone and a board-and-batten construction method. During the design process, the architect, Herron Design Associates, utilized passive cooling techniques, added super-insulation, and introduced a rainwater collection system to maximize comfort and to minimize operational costs, resulting in "green" buildings that achieve LEED design standards.
